What happens when a painter hands over his palette to a pair of designers?

For The Colour Garden, artist Marc Mulders invited Studio RENS into his radiant,
layered world — blooming with meaning.

Inspired by three of his expressive canvases, RENS translated brushstroke into
glaze: four ceramic RE-GLOW wall pieces, fired at Cor Unum.

From canvas to kiln, this collaboration celebrates a shared instinct: colour as
language, material as message. The hues, the textures, the story. It’s not about
matching tones — it’s about matching minds. A living dialogue in colour.

The Colour Garden is on view from 17 May to 28 Sep 2025, as part of the spring
programme at Piet Hein Eek – alongside work by José María Guijarro, Marc
Ruijgrok, and the Eindhoven–Dakar project.
