Re-vive rugs

RENS X TARKETT

Re-vive is the result of a creative process that transforms each

individual rug into a work of art, thereby extending the product's lifespan.

By using a manual dyeing process on out-of-date collections, these Tarkett carpets are re-coloured with red dye. The colour red makes a bold statement signaling to people that textile materials should not be wasted. As the yarns interact with the red dye, they yield new and distinct color variations with each iteration, endowing each rug with its own unique character and a revitalized presence.

Moreover, the substantial texture of these rugs helps to transform the acoustic signature of any given space, whether they are displayed as wall hangings or on the floor.

For the love of Red

RENS has been and continues to be enamored by the allure of colour. In the early 2000s, the designers embarked on a series of experiments, daringly applying exclusively red pigments to a diverse array of materials: textiles, wood, metals, plastics.

RENS X TARKETT

The collaboration with Tarkett – an alliance in design, colour, and material research – started in 2014 with the unveiling of Re-vive Rugs with carpet producer Desso, a division of Tarkett.

This partnership resulted in the introduction of a commercially appealing yet remarkably sustainable range of carpet tiles in 2021: Re-vive Tiles. Building on this success, the partnership was extended in 2023 with the introduction of linoleum adventure Lino Undercover.

‘The collaboration with RENS proofs working with enthusiastic designers can be highly valuable. Their independent approach to our challenges has yielded surprising results. Using out-of-date carpets to create new, fresh designs gives our artisan products new aesthetic power and tells a truly valuable story.’

— Bernd van der Stouw, Manager Design & Development, Desso (Tarkett)
