The Colour Wood
In The Colour Wood, everything revolves around the 'childish' art
of playing with colourful wooden blocks. In this follow-up of Colour Grid, we experiment with various colour pairings and dimensions to create unique,
wall-mounted art objects.
Continuing our previous experiments with colouring wooden blocks, in the Colour Wood we start with variously coloured wooden blocks. As before, using transparent pigments, dyes and oils allows us to stay close to the wood's inherent characteristics. However, in these pieces we introduce various dimensions: we use blocks in three different sizes, each in a one-to-two ratio. By mixing the different dimensions and colours in a systematic, grid-like way, we create unique, eye-catching shapes and graphically arresting compositions.
The Colour Wood pieces are appealing as
stand-alone objects, but offer the possibility of combining several separate parts into a larger piece.
